KAA Organizational Update – August 2025

  1. Approval of Previous Minutes
    i. Motion to approve:
    • First: Kaneia Copass
    • Second: Dusty McCoy
    • Motion carried.

  1. Directors Report – Jonathan Dixon
    • Discussed the association’s visibility at a recent conference he attended in Boston.

  1. Treasurer’s Report – Mark Grim
    • Presented the financial report detailing a bank balance of $637,255.26 and $618,009 in net receipts.
     Motion to approve the financial report subject to audit:
     First: Dusty McCoy
     Second: Kaneia Copass
     Motion carried.
    • Approximately 30 airports have paid the $20,000 donation.

  1. Committee Reports
    Conference Planning Committee
    • The committee is working on getting Guthrie to make the conference.
    • Emily and Dusty are working on obtaining Nathan Hammond as a speaker for the event, with the possibility of Dorian Walker also making a speech.
    • It was recommended that ideas pertaining to the conference be emailed to Jonathan.
    Legislative
    • Jonathan will be attending a meeting in St. Louis and is presenting to transportation in October.
    • House bill 775, KRS 246-600 was discussed pertaining to the jet fuel tax in a meeting Brad attended with the big three airports.

  1. Old Business
    • None.

  1. New Business
    • Nick Barker resigned from the board; Chris Carter from Lebanon Springfield has displayed interest in taking his place. The board discussed the need for new board members, particularly in the South Central and West districts. Recommendations for replacements may be sent in via email.
    • Aviation Day at Capitol City will take place September 16th.
    • Fulton County board meeting will be held on September 4th.
    • Our tax status expired in 2023, a 9-90 form needs to be filed to correct mistake of prior board.
    • A vision statement will be emailed to the board for review.

  1. Action Items
    • The next board meeting will be at Owensboro Convention Center on September 24th, October’s meeting will also be held at the Owensboro Convention Center on the 22nd.
    • Send out an email to the membership about the open board positions, allowing interested parties to apply.
    • Reach out to potential board members from the Lebanon-Springfield area to fill the South-Central district vacancy.
    • Provide the list of current conference sponsors and sponsorship levels to board members.
    • Reach out to potential sponsors to encourage them to sponsor the conference.
    • Determine a speaker for the DLG audit topic at the conference.
    • Find a keynote speaker for the chairman’s luncheon at the conference.
